Cacao nibs (Theobroma cacao) are some of the most rich high-antioxidant foods. This is due to the phytonutrients available. The antioxidants help absorb the free radicals that cause damage in the body. these phytonutrients are similar to those found in grapes, berries and tea. Cacao nibs, when consumed are a high source of plant-based iron, magnesium, calcium and B vitamins.

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) acts systemically as a smooth muscle relaxant. It has been found to balance blood sugar levels, and, as a carminative, is warming to the intestinal tract. The volatile oils in cinnamon are antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral.

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a stimulating tonic for the digestive system. It has been found to reduce cramping, gas and nausea. Ginger has been indicated for motion sickness and morning sickness in pregnancy for hundreds of years. Ginger increases peripheral circulation which increase blood flow, helps to detoxify the body from toxins, and stimulates oxygen transport to the body’s cells. In Western Herbal Medicine it is also used as an anti-inflammatory throughout the body, and to increase immunity to prevent invasion of bacteria and viruses.

Honeybush (Cyclopia) Some of the components of honeybush such as polyphenols serve as an antioxidant and have been found to lower blood lipids. These ingredients serve as antioxidants and may help lower blood lipids. Honeybush tea has traditionally been used in women’s reproductive health and to treat menopausal symptoms.
